We have received so much inquiry behind the meaning of our staple 1978 focus and past campaigns 1972-1978 Celebrating the Age of Innocence of Hip Hop Culture. Through our own personal evaluation, we find that between these years, Hip Hop's purpose and essence was truly innocent and had no scope in any monetary profits, nor was it exposed to the general public. By 1979,Sylvia Robinson's Sugar HIl Gang (SugarHill Records) had hit the radio waves and the shift within the cultural focus, notably in rap/lyricism had arose. Not only did it show those involved that kats could really receive fame through their artform, but records that will immortalize their words can also be made, thus generating profits. We can not deny that the rap game has heightened awareness about our culture, nor can we slander it as what may be our future's demise. What would be suitable to do, is celebrate the accomplishments of those individuals who set up the stage for the present-day / future. Acknowledging them is the most genuine way for us to say THANK YOU.
